We are the Friends of
The Boston Park Rangers Mounted Unit

The Friends of The Boston Park Rangers Mounted Unit was formed in 2009 in effort to preserve the Boston Park Rangers Mounted Unit. Our organization is made up of dedicated individuals, neighbors, & citizens who came together when budget cuts during the economic downturn called to eliminate funding for the Mounted Park Rangers. Recognizing the value of these horses and their contribution to public safety in the city of Boston, our board members, friends, and volunteers work diligently to keep these horses present. Since 2009, we have been solely responsible for fundraising the $150,000 needed annually to fund the Mounted Park Rangers. Our mission is to find a sustainable way to keep these rangers and their horses in the city, be that by lobbying to have the budget permanently include them, or perhaps, through a permanent carousel somewhere where our rangers patrol.
