Any amount helps us achieve our goals
The Park Rangers and their horses (Baron, Frederick, Liberty, Mystic and Winston) are the only security safety net in Boston’s Parks. It is thus essential they remain in our Parks!
Boston’s Mounted Unit has been acknowledged throughout the country as one of the premier units for a many years now. The Rangers are well informed in the areas of public security, horsemanship, regulations, first aid, park rules and of course directions! They are professionals!
In addition to enforcing all of the park rules, they provide services not unlike the city’s fire, conservancy, and animal control units, responsible for smaller fires, proper wildlife licensing, and protection for and against the animals that inhabit the park system. Finally, the rangers provide historical and ecological information to deepen the park patrons’ appreciation of Boston’s Emerald Necklace, in turn creating a mutual respect that improves the park system and enhances the experience of park visitors.
Our goal is to work with the City and the Parks Department to increase the number of Park Rangers in the parks, so their essential work can continue on a sophisticated and yet human level.
